Pokémon for Ace Version 8 and Beyond

For those of you who haven’t seen yet. Pokémon for Ace version 8 is out now. (You can get that here). This version has a lot (and I mean a lot) of bug-fixes and new features. I’m not going to say that this is the penultimate version of Pokémon for Ace,  because its not. There are many things that still need to be done (for example, Rotation and Inverse Battles). With this new version, I am going to make my own Pokémon fangame. The game is meant as a sequel to Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness for the Nintendo GameCube, as well as a continuation on Hilbert/Hilda and N’s story from the 5th generation games. The premise is that you are playing as Hilbert/Hilda about three years after the events of the first Black and White games as he/she embarks on a new journey through time and space against a newly reformed Cipher and their Shadow Dialga. For this project, I am going to need sprites and character artwork for a number of characters that are either original or are from Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness. I will also need a name for this game and a logo for it. I will set up a new page with this blurb and information on how to submit resources to me and more specifics on what I need.

Pokémon for Ace Expansion Packs

I have decided some of the requests for Pokémon for Ace will be met in these new expansion packs. These are for the most part, are for audio and graphics. Some changes will be using different audio formats or enlarging the battle sprites. The way these work are mostly copy-paste into your game project. Some, however, will need others things to be done for them to work. Those ones will have instructions for them.

Light and Sound Types

One of the rumors for Pokemon X and Y is the addition of the Light and Sound Types. My Question to you is what do you think of these new types? Are they a possibility? If I put them in Pokemon for Ace would you use them?

What do you want in Pokemon for Ace?

This post is as the title implies. I am asking what you want in my Pokemon for Ace. Everything, will be taken into consideration and possibly implemented. You can either ask for something in the games that already exist or what you would like to see in Pokemon for the future.

Resource Submission

This page is for the placement of resources for Pokémon for Ace. The rules are the same as before no changes except for one thing. Absolutely no GIFs Ace does not support them and I can’t get them to work. Scripts are to be complete scripts. That means do not request scripts here. I have a brief run through of what is optimal and will make what you give me what I need:

  • Animations need a project with it set up already
  • Battlers that are animated in other words all the Pokémon and animated trainers need to be named as such.
  1. Pokemon are {id 3 digits}_{form id}(s)(b). The ID is the national Pokedex number in 3 digits. Form ID is the id of the alternate forms it is usually 0 unless there are multiple forms or a female. Alternates count up from 0. 0 being the initial form. Females are 1 males are 0. Separate sprites for females are only needed if there is a physical difference. Add and s for shiny and a b for back. 2 versions are needed. The static image of the first frame and the strip with all the frames with [anim] on the end of the filename. The strips are 1 row.
  2. Trainers are the same but no pattern to naming pattern. Name it something that makes sense. The strips should be 2 rows. Row 1 is completely made of the final frame of the intro pose. Row 2 is the intro animation. The strips are not needed in this department.
  • I don’t really need Characters or Tilesets.
  • Windowskins and Battle Backs of all kinds are accepted.
  • Individual facesets for all the Pokemon under the naming pattern (normal 384 by 192, just only one face in the set at the top left-hand corner) there is no need for females unless they have their own artwork.
  • Portraits to go with those with a -1 at the end of the name
  • Use only official sources. Unless you are giving me images of GBA characters brought up to DS Quality.
  • Faces and portraits are made from offical artworks.’
